The Project
After creating lots of travel poster art depicting our favorite destinations, we wanted to create a series of fantasy travel posters about outer space. We drew on the tradition of the Atomic Age, before people actually went to space. That era was full of optimistic (and unrealistic) faith in scientific progress.
The Challenge
How do you make travel poster art about places you cannot visit in-person? How do you balance fantasy and science, adventure and beauty in a way that is believable, desirable, and aesthetically pleasing for wall decor?
The Solution
We treated each destination like our Earth-bound travel poster art. Drawing from our experience in rendering posters of world travel, American travel, and National Parks, we followed the same rules of color, contrast, composition, and human interaction with the landscapes beyond our planet to create travel poster designs that have a thrilling, romantic, nostalgic flair.
